I hooked my arm through his and rested my head on his shoulder.
"I believe that God was just joking and will give us a happy ending," I said.
When we got home, I rested while Ethan went out to buy some baby products.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. With a hand supporting my bulging tummy, I slowly got up and headed to the door.
Through the eyehole, I saw Vivian behind the door. I was quite surprised to see her here.
Why did she come? What did she want?
Looking impatient, she rang the doorbell again.
"Evelyn, I know you're in there," she said. "Open the door. I need to talk to you."
With gritted teeth, I opened the door for Vivian. She stood in her branded clothes and luxurious accessories with her head held high, looking very proud of herself.
She sneered. "You must be so glad that you got pregnant with Ethan's child, aren't you?"
I laughed coldly. "So what if I am? He's my husband. It's normal for a wife to get pregnant with her husband's child," I responded tartly. "You, on the other hand, ended up with nothing."
"You— " Vivian was so pissed that she started trembling, and her eyes looked like they were going to spew fire.
"Evelyn, don't be too full of yourself! Even if Ethan stops liking you one day, many women out there want him to be their boyfriend!"
As if that wasn't enough, she added, "Besides, you wouldn't have come so far if my Dad hadn't seen me and Ethan together. How dare go back on your word! Don't you think you're unreasonable?"
I snorted in disdain at her words. "Ethan was the one who promised you that. It has nothing to do with me."
Pissed, Vivian sneered. "Just you wait!" she spat, gritting her teeth. "You'd better pray to God that your baby is all well when you give birth. Otherwise…"
Her words struck me like a thunderclap in the middle of the night. Fear clenched my heart.
What did she mean by that?
"Vivian, might I remind you that I'm now Mrs. Grayson. Ethan won't let you go if you dare to hurt me," I warned, pretending to be calm and unfazed.
"Oh really? Let's see if you can last long enough to tell on me." She smirked. Her words seemed to imply something foreboding.
Her smile sent a shiver down my spine. It sure seemed like she wanted to take my life.
