Ethan sighed and kissed my tears away. "Don't worry. As long as I'm here, no one's getting to you. I'll take care of Holden and his bunch."
We held each other tight, but sleep never came that night.
The next morning, things got worse.
Andy burst into the room and woke me up. "We've got a problem, Mrs. Grayson! Ms. Albright is here!"
I was shocked. "What? Why is she here? Where's Ethan?"
Andy wiped the sweat off his brow. "Mr. Grayson's dealing with his job in the study. Ms. Albright arrived early, stormed into the study, and kicked everyone out. She's not letting anyone inside!"
I rushed to the study. Even from the hallway, I could hear them arguing.
Vivian's voice cut through the door as she shouted, "If you refuse to be with me, Ethan, my dad's buying out Grayson Group! You'll lose everything, and your reputation will be ruined!"
"You better not push it!" Ethan growled. "I'm engaged to Evelyn, and I'm not leaving her for you! Stop wasting your time!"
Vivian snorted. "Evelyn? She's just some designer nobody! She's way out of your league and just trying to punch above her weight! And who cares about an engagement? It's not like you're married. You can still back out."
"Shut up!" Ethan roared, followed by the sound of a hard slap. "Talk trash about Evelyn again, and you'll regret it!"
"D-Did you just hit me? Fine, you'll pay for this, Ethan! I hope you two end up miserable!" Vivian shrieked.
She yanked the door open and stormed out, shooting me a glare that felt like it could've killed me.
Ethan sighed and pulled me into his arms. "I'm sorry you had to see that."
