From powerful elites with wealth and influence to ambitious groups of unruly schemers—everyone seemed to be after this mysterious treasure.
And it wasn't just Pete. Even Stephan had shown interest.
Felicia vividly remembered that moment in the rainforest when Stephan admitted he had a reason—one he couldn't ignore—for needing to find that place. What reason could it possibly be? Felicia still hadn't figured that out.
Pete hesitated briefly, seemingly struggling to figure out what to say. After some time, he finally responded, "You'll understand when you see it for yourself. All I can tell you is this—it's a place that absolutely can't fall into the hands of others. It's a place everyone dreams of possessing for themselves."
A paradise lined with gold? A land of untold treasures?
Felicia immediately lost interest. Any curiosity she had was fleeting, barely enough to keep her engaged. For her, the only thing that mattered about the island was finding a Heart Eater to save Maurice.
The deal was tentatively set. They agreed to depart in three days. Felicia glanced at Pete, who immediately motioned for the robed man to act. Begrudgingly, the robed figure worked to temporarily suppress the Heart Eater's torment of Maurice.
"This will only last five days," the robed man warned, his tone curt and impatient. "If you don't find another Heart Eater from the same source within that time, he's as good as dead."
Felicia checked Maurice's pulse and felt a bit more reassured. The immediate danger had passed, and Maurice wouldn't fall into another mind-controlled frenzy for now.
However, the side effects of the backlash had left him in a severely weakened state. Over the next five days, Maurice would be fragile and vulnerable.
The subordinates from the Glovers family exchanged glances before cautiously addressing Felicia, "Ms. Fuller, if it's alright, we'll take Mr. Glovers down the mountain now. We're staying at the Raditz Hotel. If you need anything, you can reach us there or give us a call."
"Go ahead," Felicia said after a moment's thought. Before they left, she added, "In about two hours, he'll wake up. Let him know he needs to rest properly for the next couple of days. In three days, he's coming with me."
If she was going to deal with the venomous creature inside him, Maurice had to be there too.
