Scarlet felt a surge of emotion wash over her, and her pupils briefly contracted. It wasn't fear but more so concern. "Boss! Wake up!"
Felicia remained unmoved. She was like a soulless puppet, her mind occupied by the commands triggered by the sound of the bronze bells. She charged toward Scarlet without hesitation.
Scarlet dodged twice while trying to subdue Felicia, but she was afraid of injuring her. With this hesitation, she found herself gradually losing ground.
Grinding her teeth, Scarlet steeled herself. She still couldn't bring herself to harm Felicia, so after evading Felicia's attack once more, she quickly changed course and charged toward the robed man who was standing by and watching.
As long as she could subdue this person and take the bronze bells from him, Felicia would no longer be under his control.
With that thought in mind, Scarlet acted swiftly, attacking the robed man with incredible speed.
The robed man snorted coldly, seemingly unconcerned. He stood his ground, not moving at all. He exuded an air of arrogance and confidence, as though Scarlet were an insignificant bug unworthy of his attention.
However, the robed man never expected that when Scarlet was only three steps away from him, she would suddenly stop moving.
A gunshot rang out with a loud bang.
At that moment, a warm, blood-red stain bloomed on the robed man's chest, but because of the black fabric of his robe, the bloodstain wasn't clearly visible.
Scarlet blew the smoke from the barrel of the pistol, quietly impressed by Felicia's foresight in handing her the weapon before falling under control.
If it were simply a matter of fighting, Scarlet might not have been the robed man's match. But within a three-foot radius, the pistol's speed beat was unbeatable.
Scarlet's expression turned cold as she immediately fired a second shot.
The robed man reacted quickly, clutching his chest and dodging the shot while simultaneously shaking the bronze bells in his hand. He barked a new command, "Come with me!"
With that, the robed man swiftly darted into the nearby woods.
It was still dark, and the forest was pitch-black.
In the blink of an eye, the robed man melted into the surrounding darkness. Scarlet fired three more shots, but by then, the robed man was far gone, and she couldn't even hear his footsteps. Her pistol had run out of bullets as well.
