Return of the Crowned Heiress novel Chapter 615

No matter the time or place, Imogen never regretted her decision to shield Stephan back then even though it had cost her eyesight. Even if given another chance, she would still make the same choice without hesitation.

"I know, Imogen." Stephan sighed softly, lowering his voice. "As a family, we don't hold grudges against each other. Don't blame yourself."

"Alright!"

Imogen shot a sideway glance at Felicia and couldn't help but smile. Then, without warning, she changed the topic bluntly. "You might not hold grudges, but I do. Back then, you pretended to be blind just to scare me, didn't you?"

Stephan, caught off guard, was left speechless. Feeling guilty, he quietly pinched Felicia's waist, seeking help.

Felicia set down the dish of peeled grapes and cleared her throat, but instead of helping, she delivered another blow. "Not only did he pretend to be blind, but he also faked his death. The rumors outside are everywhere, saying that Mr. Russell was poisoned and is on his deathbed…"

Imogen chimed in, "That's why I wasn't surprised at all when I walked in earlier. This news has been circulating for days, but the more I heard, the more absurd it seemed."

She had cried over it on the first day, afraid of losing her only remaining family member.

But after calming down and thinking it through, as the head of the Russell family, how many threats, both in the open and hidden, had Stephan faced over the years? Would he really go down because of something so trivial?

The only explanation was that he had done it on purpose.

Though she had her suspicions, at the time, she wasn't sure of Stephan's motives, so she chose to remain silent and not expose anything. And now, seeing him safe and sound in person, she understood everything.

Stephan was putting on an act.

The only question was—who was backing Archie, and what deal had they made that emboldened Archie enough to covet the Russell family?

It seemed absolutely ridiculous.
