Rebirth of The Vengeful Luna novel Chapter 56

CHARLOTTE...

I dialled a number and after a few rings, I heard a familiar male tone, that disgusted me to the core.

"Hey, Adrian," I said, suppressing my disdain and anger.

"Charlotte?" His tone sounded sheepish and doubtful. Well, against all odds of that night, he may never think I would call him. But, I had to.

To suppress Carina's involvement in it, I needed to turn the way of my investigation and this time, I need to find out, how Adrian smells.

In my previous life, I didn't have my wolf, so this time, I don't really know how they smell. Specially, Adrian. Because last time, his scent was exactly like Augustus'.

For that, I can only meet him alone. I need to lure him out of his shell and then catch him.

"Yeah, it's me," I said, turning my tone softer so that he does not understand my motive.

"Wow! I never thought you will get a chance to call me! Hey, are you alright? Did he..." He started speaking but I have no time to hear his nonsense. So, I interrupted him.

"Adrian, I can't talk too much now. I have something to tell you. Please, meet me in the dark forest tonight, will you?"

The opposite side of the phone was silent for some time and that made my heart beat faster.

"Sure, I will be there at midnight. Okay?"

I sighed inwardly. "Okay... I will see you there Adrian." Saying, I cut the call and leaned against the sofa.

Suddenly, I heard little cautious footsteps sound and a familiar scent. A little smirk appeared on my face as I closed my eyes.

"Are you done transferring the news to your Alpha, Lucinda?"

Suddenly, everything turned silent. I know, she is still here. I guess, all of them forget the part that I have my wolf now.

"Come out," I said, opening my eyes and in the next second, she appeared behind the curtain.

Her head is lowered and she is flushed in embarrassment. I poured some orange juice into the glass and looked at her blankly.

"Send the news already?" I asked. Her head lowered more.

"I... I am sorry, Luna." She spoke but I stopped her, raising my hand.

"Just answer the question I have asked, Lucinda." My tone turned hard as I felt a little hurt in my heart.

She shook her head. "I still didn't send it to him." She replied slowly.

"Luna, I have never thought that..." She tried to speak again but I stopped her again.

"No excuses, Lucinda. You just did that, didn't you? I know, you were bound before his commands, but as your Luna, I have given you full freedom of friendship with me, haven't I? You could have at least let me know. I wouldn't even stop you from doing your task."

"However, you chose to hide it from me. Somehow, you broke my task and that's what hurts me the most, not your passing the information to Augustus. I only expect you to share this with me as a friend and not a Luna. I guess, I was not worth of it."
