The apartment Willow rented was located in Sunshine Park, Buscen City.
She cleared out the other bedroom, and placed Helen’s luggage in there. It would be her room, now.
The children were overjoyed that their Grand-Aunt Helen had come along with them. They crowded around her eagerly.
Willow checked the time. It was already eleven in the morning. Too late to go out looking for work… but there’d be another chance, later in the afternoon.
She was on her way to the kitchen to make lunch when her handphone rang. It was the head of the janitorial department at the Hughes Corporation headquarters. Surprised, Willow took the phone call.
“Hello, Mr Fawcett?”
“Lara! Ah, no… Willow! You’ve skipped work for a couple of days, now! How many days’ pay do you intend to miss out on?!” It was her supervisor at work, shouting every word like he always did.
Willow’s eyes snapped wide open with shock. “You must be mistaken, sir! I’ve been let go from the job, haven’t I?”
Hold on… the head janitor had just called her Willow! So he’d found out about her faking her own identity?
“And whoever said anything like that?” Sean Fawcett snapped in reply, “I don’t remember handing you a dismissal letter, right?”
Willow thought about this. “Um… oh! That’s right!”
“There you have it. I want to see you at work immediately. Bring your real ID and banking information, so we can sort out the paperwork. No more funny business, understand?” And then her supervisor hung up on her.
Willow stood there with her mouth hanging open, blinking in confusion. So she hadn’t actually been fired?
Mr Fawcett had even asked her for her real ID, so that they could make corrections to her paperwork with the company? That meant he knew that she’d used a false identity… yet she was still allowed to keep on working there?
Was this Jasper’s doing?
She was happy, of course… but she didn’t understand what was going on.
Jasper hated her, didn’t he? She’d been caught in a serious wrongdoing. Why wouldn’t he fire her straight away?
