Willow would be lucky to even find an ordinary guy who wanted her…
Lara knew it was too much to hope for true love. Someone who could share this burden with her would be more than enough already.
Samantha hadn’t returned home yet. She waited until both Lara and Helen showed up, with two children each. Only then did she relax…
Good. Jasper hadn’t found the children.
Now that he’d left their village, she no longer had anything to worry about. Pulling herself upright, she made her victorious way back home.
Her home had become a grand mansion, which blocked the sun from reaching Willow’s own place.
When Samantha’s new house was being built, Willow had been away from the village, working hard to feed her four children. It was only later that she found out about how Samantha’s better house also made her own place worse.
Samantha would steal even the sun’s light from her.
Willow didn’t like it one bit, but it was not as though she could go over there and tear down the new building.
Seeing Samantha strolling through the village with that arrogant, triumphant air now… it made Willow very unhappy indeed.
“Aunt Helen, how about you come with us to Buscen?” Willow asked hopefully, squeezing the older woman’s arm. “I’m renting a two-bedroom apartment. There’s space for you.”
Helen looked unwell. Earlier, she had barely been able to walk straight. Willow was very worried about her health.
No one would be in good health, living in a damp and gloomy house like this.
What’s more, it would soon be winter. Helen’s condition would only get worse here.
“Oh no, I would be such a burden to you!” Helen only thought of others.
“Not at all!” Lara declared forcefully. “With you there, I’d have someone to talk to. It’s so tough, being left to raise four children on my own! I’m always exhausted and lonesome… No, I insist! Tomorrow, you’ll leave with the rest of us.”
Lara was pushy, but she meant well. Anyone could see that Helen was wasting away here, forgotten in the shadows.
With Samantha’s new house next door keeping the sun’s warmth from reaching anyone here, Helen had only been growing weaker with each passing day.
