Love Beyond the Mask novel Chapter 945

"Sure, I'll text you Chris's number," Ashton promised, his voice full of resolve. "Once I've got the paternity test, I'll head straight to you."

"Right, let's do that. I'll go and buy some time with the old man."

After agreeing on their plan, Whitney dashed outside the church, only to see the old man angrily driving off in a sleek black Bentley.

Instead of heading towards the city center, the car veered off towards Sea Bay in Banyan City.

Could Parker have taken Tiana there? Whitney pondered briefly before swiftly following.

However, halfway to Sea Bay, Whitney's phone rang. It was Ashton, "Things aren't looking good. Something happened to Chris. I called him, and he just stopped responding mid-conversation!

I can't delay releasing Cherry now. I'm heading to Chris's last known location with her in tow. He mentioned being on the highway near the airport. Could it be an accident?"

"An accident?" Whitney frowned, squinting as a thought struck her, "That can't be a coincidence. Ashton, get there as fast as you can. We need that signed paternity test, no matter what!"

After a moment, Ashton's frustration boiled over, "Could Endora be behind this? Damn it, isn't she supposed to be at the police station? Check it out."

"I'll call the police station to get the scoop while using Ludwik's influence to press them."

Whitney said, "Ashton, make sure Chris is safe. Get that..."

"I'll get the damn test," Ashton snapped before hanging up.

As Whitney watched the call disconnect, her brows knitted together. She continued to chase the old man's Bentley while dialing the Banyan City Police Department.

Unsure of which precinct had detained Barclay and Endora, she waited as the department's chief sought confirmation.

After a few minutes, the chief called back, "Ms. Valentine, Endora is currently being interrogated at the Banyan City precinct for assault at the wedding and involvement in the Barclay murder case.

However, she's got a top-notch lawyer, and due to a technicality with the evidence, we're lacking sufficient grounds to hold her..."

"Insufficient evidence? Then keep looking! Are you going to let her lawyer bail her out?

Isn't assault enough for a 48-hour hold? How much did the Melford family pay off that precinct?" Whitney demanded, her tone icy.

The chief, sweating bullets, tried to reassure her, "We don't operate like that."

"If I find out you've taken bribes, remember, Ludwik is behind me. If he starts digging, your precinct could end up in deep trouble for shielding Endora!"
