“Miss Endora might be hurt, you should probably check on her, Mr. Doonan,” his assistant said, panting with sweat.
Parker's eyes, deep as the ocean at dusk, seemingly cold yet betraying ripples of concern, murmured in a hoarse voice, “She's pregnant…”
But the thought of the ‘bastard’ child darkened his expression instantly.
Why the hell should he care about such a woman?
Yet, his long legs carried him out of the car and into the grand lobby of Doonan Hospital, his brow furrowed in question to his assistant, “Did Tiana suddenly return to Banyan City for a reason? Did you find out anything?”
“I didn’t have the chance, Mr. Doonan. Plus, you had previously instructed us not to bring up anything related to Tiana…”
Parker's gaze turned sharp, “I said not to bring it up, not to sew your mouths shut! Dumb as a doornail.”
“…” His assistant was left speechless.
You say one thing but mean another, how is anyone supposed to read your mind?
To mention or not to mention?
“I’ll find out right away why Tiana returned to Banyan City. But you’ve been drowning your sorrows in booze these past few days, picking fights with the old man, passed out drunk every night. We didn’t dare disturb you over trivial matters.”
Parker paused, his captivating eyes dropping slightly before finally saying, “Her matters are never trivial.”
“…” His assistant sneaked a glance at his handsome features, noting the deep-set determination behind those spectacles.
Seems like Mr. Doonan took a real emotional hit over this Tiana situation.
Despite all the venom he spewed in front of Ashton about despising Tiana, he was just blowing off steam.
“Alright, I got it, Mr. Doonan. I’ll keep a closer eye on Tiana from now on…”
As they spoke, they neared Endora’s hospital room.
Cato and Alice rushed in, panic-stricken, “Endora! Endora…”
Parker, thinking of Tiana’s delicate condition and how she bravely confronted Endora alone – and knowing Endora was no angel – his expression turned stern as he quickened his pace, “Tiana—”
The room was a chaotic mess, filled with Endora’s agonizing screams, “Ah… my wrist, mom, dad, my wrist! Tiana, she cut my tendon, ah… this lunatic, lunatic!”
"What? Tiana! Honey, call the police now! Arrest this witch!" Alice screamed, her face ashen at the sight of blood everywhere.
Endora, writhing in pain on the floor, her wrist gruesomely exposed to bone and gushing blood, clutched Tiana’s dress with her other hand.
Blood smeared the floor.
Tiana, unphased, protected her belly, remarkably calm as she cleaned the fingerprints off the knife, “Who saw me cut you? Wasn’t it you trying to commit suicide to force Parker into marrying you, only to cut deeper by accident, causing permanent disability?
Congratulations, you got your wish, to enter the illustrious Doonan family as a cripple.”
She squatted down, her eyes burning with madness as she sneered at the pale-faced Endora, “You poisoned my father, leveraging his life against me to marry Barclay. Of course, I had to return the favor.
Endora, don’t mess with the desperate.
Go ahead, report me. Say I cut your tendon. Let’s bring it all out in the open. What was that about harming my dad? I got it all on tape.
Worst case, you don’t marry Parker, and your Melford family is disgraced, dreams of grandeur shattered!”
"You dare record?!" Endora's face flickered with fear, but she quickly sneered, “The police will only trace it back to Barclay, not to me. And if you dare expose this, your dad dies in three days. Let’s see if you want to go down together.”
She knew Tiana wouldn’t risk her father’s life; Tiana loved her father too much.
