Tiana felt like she was being pricked by a thousand needles, but she couldnously mocked herself. Wasn't Ashton drifting further away exactly what she wanted?
Why should she ache for him?
Just as she predicted, Ashton and Endora were tangled up in a mess that seemed impossible to untangle, all thanks to Endora's numerous schemes.
The child she was carrying was doomed never to recognize Ashton as a father. It was a connection without destiny.
"Tiana, are you okay?" Whitney popped her head into the car.
"I'm fine. It's not like Endora's suicide attempt was aimed at me. Whoever she was targeting should just marry her," Tiana joked without any real humor, her smile more pained than her tears.
Whitney could see right through her.
Ashton, overhearing from the front seat, erupted, "Tiana, have you lost your mind? You think just because you're carrying—"
Whitney quickly stuffed a corn cob into Ashton's mouth, silencing him with a stern warning glance.
Fine, Tiana was now untouchable, a sacred cow not to be antagonized lest she decides to terminate Parker's unborn child in a moment of despair.
Parker was truly embroiled in a mess, with Endora clinging to him like a leech that couldn't be shaken off.
He watched anxiously.
-
In the Doonan Hospital in Banyan City.
The midday sun was abundant, but its warmth failed to penetrate the gloom of the hospital office, where the atmosphere was as cold as a freezer, especially with Parker's arrival deepening the chill.
Parker disembarked from his helicopter, striding into the hospital lobby with a composed demeanor.
Winston stood at the office door, flanked by the mothers of Parker and Barclay, and other significant family elders.
Winston's secretaries and bodyguards hovered nearby.
Parker's gaze swiftly found Endora's weeping parents outside the surgery room.
His look turned icy, filled with scorn.
"What are you looking at?" Winston was the first to speak.
Parker turned, a mocking smile on his lips as he greeted respectfully, "Dad."
Winston surveyed him coldly.
Then, with a sudden 'thud,' Parker's mother's face went pale.
Barclay's mother was also surprised by the sound, seeing Parker stagger under the blow, a trickle of blood at his mouth, which brought her a perverse delight.
"Dear!" Parker's mom stepped forward.
Cato and Alice, alerted by the commotion, came over, feigning concern and blocking Winston, "Parker's back, huh! Winston, what's this about?"
"You can't seriously harm my son-in-law!" Alice's eyes brimmed with tears.
Parker glanced coldly over, "Who's your son-in-law? Now that everyone's here, let me make things clear. Dad, Endora and I had our engagement annulled a month ago.
It was only due to her manipulations that I delayed making it public.
