"Ludwik! Open the damn door, Ludwik!" Parker yelled, his voice laced with fury as he kicked at the door.
No response came from the other side.
In the dimly lit room, Parker staggered backward, sober despite appearances. His eyes glowed red with anger and boredom.
He slumped onto the bed, his legs stretched out on the floor, his upper body sinking into the mattress. His vision blurred, and his mind replayed images of Tiana's delicate face—her indifference, her mocking laughter, her tears, and that final look of deep, unspoken sorrow that seemed to pierce his heart.
After the wave of rage subsided, Parker couldn't help but dwell on the revelation that Tiana was two months pregnant. Had she been truthful with him?
Pausing, he sat up abruptly, intending to call the hospital for verification, but his drunken state made it impossible to find the contact information. Instead, he stumbled upon his Uncle Phineas's phone number.
In a flash of realization, Parker considered the possibility of something happening between him and Tiana during their time on Saltland Island.
If that were the case, Uncle Phineas would undoubtedly be aware.
With a grim expression, Parker forced a semblance of sobriety and dialed Phineas's number.
Phineas was away from Emperor City at the moment.
Answering the call, Phineas had just finished reading a perplexing text message.
"Parkie?"
"Hey, Uncle... I need to ask you something."
"Go ahead."
"It's about Tiana. Did you confine her and me in the same house on Saltland Island during my memory gap? Did anything... inappropriate happen between us?"
Phineas tensed up momentarily. "Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"
"Just tell me, did I... did we have a relationship?"
After a brief pause, Phineas's silence was palpable. Parker clenched his phone tighter, frustration mounting. "Uncle, this is important. Just give me an answer."
On the other end, Phineas cursed silently. He was at the presidential residence, where he shouldn't have been carrying his phone. Yet, Tiana's cryptic warning message, followed by Parker's call, linked two seemingly unrelated events.
