“Weren’t you always afraid of pain?” Leslie asked 

He remembered how Leon had carried Victoria inferrament years ago when she had sprained her ankle dancing, She had complained multiple times about the pain back then. But now, this wound was far worse, yet she didn’t make a sound 

“That was then. This is now,” she replied simply. She didn’t elaborate further. After disinfecting the wound, she reached for the medicine and started wrapping it herself “Let’s continue discussing my mother’s condition 

Leslie watched her struggle, then took the bandage from her hands and wrapped it for her. It was such a simple action, yet Victoria found herself momentarily dazed. She stared at his hands as he worked 

Just as he finished bandaging her wound, his phone chimed with a message. 

It was from Leon. “Be gentle when wrapping her wound. Give her scar treatment after.” 

Leslie replied. “Understood.” 

Leon did respond further. 

Sitting beside him. Eva watched his unreadable expression. Worried that he would blame her–like he had before–for seeking our Victoria, she quickly spoke up. “Leon, I know you don’t like me going to see Victoria. 

“But I just couldn’t stand by and do nothing while her mother was in danger. If you’re upset with me, so be BLT 

“Does your wound still hurt?” He changed the subject. 

“It does.” She nodded, adding a touch of pitiful vulnerability to her expression.

Leon rested his large hand on her knee. His gaze fell on the neatly wrapped bandages. His thumb unconsciously brushed against the gauze, but in his mind, all he could see was the bloody gash on Victoria’s palm. 

“The doctor said it’s not serious,” Eva reassured him. She grabbed his hand. “You don’t need to worry too much.” 

He smoothly withdrew his hand and instead reached up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, “Just focus on resting these next few days. If you need anything, call me. And don’t we your wound.”
