Chapter 40
“Leon,” Eva started again, playing her usual act. “It was just an accident. Maybe she didn’t mean tod
“Whether it was intentional or not, the fact remains that you got hurt because of her,” Leon said. His gaze was locked en Victoria, and he did not miss a single flicker of emotion on her face.” She has to face the consequences of her actions.”
Victoria understood him perfectly
He wasn’t here to reason with her but to take Eva’s side. Just like before, when he used to spoil her, it never mattered who was right or wrong; he always protected her
Now, he was sending a clear messige – if she refused to accept sharing him, the consequence was watching him shift all that indulgence onto someone else…
But she had no interest in that kind of love.
Victoria met his eyes. “Do you mean what you say?”
Leon nodded. “Yes”
The moment he finished spealing, she grabbed a scalpel from the nearby tray and, without hesitation, slashed her palm with it.
The blade sliced through her skin effortlessly. Blood instantly pushed out. It streamed over her fingers and dripped steadily onto the floor.
“Ms. Smith!” Leslie gasped in
Leon’s pupils constricted as he stared at her bleeding hand.
This was the same woman who used to tear up over the smallest scrape. How could she now slice herself open so mercilessly, without so much as a flinch?
Was she really that unwilling to ask him for help?
Did the despise him so much that she would rather hurt herself than give in?
“Is this enough?” Victoria let the blood drip freely. Her tone was steady. “If not, I can keep going until you’re satisfied”
“Mr. Quigley, Ms. Simmons‘ injury isn’t serious. It’s just a minor scrape,” Leslie quickly interjected. He was worried that Victoria’s wound would worsen. “Ms. Smith has already more than compensated for it.”
