Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 1640

Before heading to bed on the evening, Elliott was struck by the sudden realization that the next day was Thanksgiving. He discussed it with Gina.

"Mom, tomorrow’s Thanksgiving. I should call Emily and ask her to come home for the holiday! It's been a long time since she visited. I’ll go to the farmers market early tomorrow to buy some of her favorite foods, and for Kya too. We’ll have a lively family celebration.”

As he reached for his phone to call Emily, Gina's expression changed and she quickly stopped him, “Don't make the call!”

"What’s wrong?" Elliott asked, puzzled.

Gina hesitated. She didn’t know that Shawn had found a job and moved out. She assumed he was still living with Emily and feared that if she called Emily, she would bring Shawn along.

The last thing she wanted was to let Shawn know they lived here and then have him linger and refuse to leave. She didn't want to argue with him every day.

She was even more afraid that Bonnie Ferber would find out about Elliott's gambling-addict father. Bonnie might get upset and return to her own family. She was still hoping that Bonnie would quickly give her a grandchild.

“Emily called me this afternoon. She said she has to work late tomorrow, and can't make it!” Gina quickly fabricated an excuse.

Elliott frowned, "Working late on Thanksgiving?"

Bonnie walked over with a faint smile, “In a big company, it’s always busy! Our Emily is the CEO’s right hand person, has even more on her plate. You think she's like you, working tirelessly and not earning much money?”

Elliott didn't want to listen to Bonnie's gossip, so he quickly said, "Well, let’s forget about it. Let Emily focus on her work then. We'll invite her over when she has time."

When Bonnie went to the kitchen for a drink, Gina called Elliott into her room and whispered, “Is Bonnie upset with you?”

“No!” Elliott responded softly, "She was just joking!"

Gina nodded, “Now that you’re not as busy with work and not always working late, take the opportunity to have a baby with Bonnie!”

Elliott chuckled nervously, “We’ve just gotten married; there's no rush.”
