Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen novel Chapter 353

After banishing the NightKing, Eileen sank back into her chair.

She snatched the cup of coffee from Egbert's hand, chugged it down in one go, and grimaced slightly as she looked over at Hana on the bed. "Go on, you were saying something about the leader of the Bloodbane Shadowsociety?"

Hana was stunned into silence, glancing between Eileen and Egbert, then at the now-empty hallway outside the door. What had happened just ten seconds ago felt like a bizarre dream.

After a moment of hesitation, Hana raised her bandaged hand and gave herself a hard slap across the face.

Smack!

It hurt. Definitely not a dream.

Eileen blinked. Egbert simply watched, bemused.

Eileen quickly stood up and bustled over to Hana, exclaiming, "Oh, let me do that! You shouldn't be doing such heavy lifting yourself. Which side needs another slap?"

Hana jerked her head away, wary and unsure as she eyed Eileen's face. Her throat moved, but no words came out.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Eileen turned to see Thein standing there, looking respectful. "Boss, we’ve caught two spies!"

"Spies?" Eileen asked, confused.

Thein nodded, "They’ve been lurking around the house since yesterday. We just caught them and they're in the living room, waiting for you."

Eileen pursed her lips and waved a hand dismissively. "Got it."

Turning to Egbert, she said, "I’ll go check it out. If she just wants the Bloodbane Shadowsociety folks to leave her alone, you can agree to that. I can handle them."

Egbert watched her quietly, his eyes steady, saying nothing.

Hana, after a quick glance at Eileen, lowered her head, suddenly subdued.

Once Eileen had left the room, Hana hesitated before asking, "Who... who exactly is she?"

Egbert got up and left the room without a word.

In the living room, Eileen found two Asian men standing tall and defiant, flanked by Hale and Maloney, who both had their guns trained on the "spies." On a nearby coffee table were two disassembled handguns.

Eileen approached the table, picked up the guns, inspected them, then signaled Hale and Maloney to lower their weapons.

"Everyone out," Eileen commanded.

The room’s occupants hesitated for a moment but obeyed, filing out until the door clicked shut behind them.

Eileen reassembled the guns and handed them back to the two men, saying, "Here, take them. No need to be polite."

The men exchanged a glance, one of them explaining, "We mean no offense to Miss Phoenix. We were just passing through..."

Eileen rolled her eyes and shoved the guns into their arms. "Really, take them."

Forced to accept the guns, the men held them awkwardly.
