Marguerite knew Maurice had pulled something out of his pocket, but she had no idea what his next move to clear his name would be.
But the phrase "seeing is believing" from his lips made it impossible for Marguerite to ignore.
Almost against her will, she turned around and saw a phone on the dining table, its screen paused on a video.
The footage was from a surveillance camera, and Marguerite instantly recognized it as the rooftop where everything went down six months ago.
She wanted more than anything to know what had happened that night!
With trembling hands, visible even to the naked eye, she picked up the phone and hit play.
The perspective was distant, and the image blurry, but Marguerite could still make out Frederick holding a gun, seemingly negotiating with Maurice.
She couldn't hear a thing, only watched as Teresa stood pitifully between them. Then, a gunshot shattered the air.
It was Frederick who pulled the trigger.
As Teresa fell, another gunshot followed.
Maurice shot Frederick and rushed towards Teresa.
Then, she saw her own devastated figure appear on the rooftop.
The five-minute video was too much to bear a second time.
She flipped the phone face down on the table, her heart in agony.
For half a year, she never once believed that Frederick had shot Teresa.
All her doubts stemmed from the document Frederick signed with the hacker.
He had given up on the partnership, so why did he sign his name in the end?
She had found countless reasons to convince herself that Frederick had no choice.
But now that Maurice had laid the truth bare, Marguerite felt lost in a fog, unable to see any direction.
People could lie, but videos couldn't.
