Meanwhile, at MOCODO Steakhouse.
Marguerite hadn't given up on blind dates. In fact, she had gone all out and signed up as a platinum member on LoveConnect.
This time, the matchmaker had set her up with someone impressive—a CEO of a publicly traded company, they said.
Marguerite arrived early and had just settled into her seat when her phone buzzed. The caller ID flashed Stella!
It had to be about Silas.
Marguerite quickly answered, only to be greeted by Stella's indignant voice.
"Sis! Your friend, that Silas guy, his temper is just too much!"
Marguerite's eyes narrowed. "What happened?"
Stella huffed, "A few hours ago, I called him and said I had a way to cure his headaches. But when he got here and realized I'm a therapist, he got all mad and stormed off! Sis, your friend’s got quite a character. It’s not my fault if he won’t cooperate!"
Marguerite felt a headache of her own forming. She hadn't warned Silas beforehand; anyone would be upset being sent to a therapist unannounced. But she was also wary of getting in touch with Silas, afraid it might reignite any lingering hope he might have.
Lost in thought, she suddenly noticed a man in a suit approaching her table. Her date had arrived.
Quickly, Marguerite covered her mouth and ended the call with Stella. "I'll call you back later, something just came up."
She put down her phone and looked up, only to be taken aback. The polite smile she had prepared vanished, replaced by a look of disdain and hostility.
Maurice!
What was he doing here? Surely he couldn’t be her blind date!
Marguerite's brows furrowed, but Maurice had already pulled out a chair and sat down.
His eyes were captivating and confident, but to Marguerite, they were unsettling.
