The word “sister–in–law” caught Yvan off guard, and he froze for a moment. 

Meanwhile, Josephine calmly opened the passenger door and climbed in. “Let’s go, George.” 

George drove off, glancing at the rearview mirror. Even after they’d gone a considerable distance, the tall man still stood rooted to the spot, unmoving. 

He wondered who that man was. Judging from his outfit, he looked like a rocker, in his opinion, anyone dressed like that was either a shut–in who lived for comics or an offbeat rocker. 

But there was no way a shut–in could look that good with such a well–built physique and commanding presence. Not to mention, the guy looked loaded. So, a 

rocker it was 

Ethan had made it clear that he wasn’t to engage with Josephine unless necessary, so no matter how curious he was, he kept his mouth shut and focused on the road. Halfway through, Josephine suddenly received a call from Shawn. To be honest, she wasn’t too keen on staying in touch with Shawn. If she weren’t so lazy, she’d have already changed his contact name to “Ungrateful Snake“. 

However, after her phone rang several times and he still hadn’t hung up, she decided to answer. “Mrs. Forbes, Mr. Forbes was in a car accident! He’s injured but refuses to go to the hospital. Could you come and talk some sense into him?” 

A car accident? Her heart sank to her stomach. “Where is he injured?” 

“I don’t know–he won’t let anyone check on him. But his shirt and pants are covered in blood! 

“Where are you guys right now?” 

“I panicked and brought him back to the villa on Elysian street” 

That was their marital home–the villa where she and Zayn had lived together for three years. 

So, he wouldn’t go to a hospital but was willing to return home. He wouldn’t let Shawn check his injuries but was fine with having him call her. Clearly, this was all a ploy for sympathy, using his injuries to guilt her 

Her voice turned cold. “Since he’s already at the villa, you should call a doctor to treat him. Why’d you call me? I’m not a doctor.” 

Shawn’s voice cracked with desperation. “Mrs. Forbes, Mr. Forbes is really badly injured. In the short time we’ve been home, the blood’s already soaked through the couch. Please come take a look! 

“If something happens and he ends up with complications, you won’t be able to finalize the divorce anytime soon. 

Josephine could tell that line definately wasn’t Shawn’s idea–Zayn must’ve fed it to him. 

She took a deep breath to corral her anger. But then she thought of Joe, who was still in the hospital. If he found out how strained things had become between them or that she’d ignored Zayn’s injuries, it would break his heart. 

For Joe’s sake, she clenched her fists and told George, “Take me to Villa 35 on Elysian Street,”
