As soon as Yvan caught up to her, he heard her call out “Uncle Joe” and couldn’t help but frown. “Why aren’t you calling him ‘Dad? If you don’t want to, at least call him by his name, Who calls their father–in–law ‘Uncle‘?” 

Josephine continued to ignore him. 

“Come in,” Joe’s voice beckoned from inside the room. 

Josephine pushed the door open and stepped in. To her surprise, there were quite a few people in the room. Aside from Joe and Zayn, there was a well–dressed woman in her 30s and two middle–aged men in suits–all strangers to josephine. 

“Alright, that’s enough, you can all leave now. My son and daughter–in–law are here. It’s time for us to spend some quality time together.” 

The three of them said goodbye before leaving, but not without curious glances lingering on Yvan and Josephine–one was the prodigal eldest son returning after three years, and the other, the strange daughter–in–law who called Joe “Uncle“. It was prime gossip material. 

Once they were gone, Josephine turned her attention to Joe, concem evident in her voice. “Uncle Joe, how are you feeling? Why did you suddenly get hospitalized?” 

Joe smiled gently at her, as he always did. “Oh, it’s nothing serious, just old issues flaring up. I’ll be fine after staying in the hospital for a while. By the way, Josephine, why didn’t you come over for dinner last time when invited you?” 

The question caught her off guard. She’d already told him about her impending divorce with Zayn, so naturally, it was no longer appropriate for her to go to the Forbes residence for dinner 

“Is he fishing for a specific response?” she wondered. 

Josephine had intended to tell the truth, but the sight of Joe’s tired and weathered face softened her resolve. “I… I had to go to Survale recently. Things got hectic, and I couldn’t find the time.” 

“Busy is good,” he said. “It’s good to stay busy when you’re young. Once you’re my age, 

e, stuck in the hospital every other werk, you’ll wish you had more to do.” He shifted his gaze to Zayn. “Help your wife our when you can. Don’t let her handle everything on her own. Otherwise, what does she gain from marrying you?” Zayn realized his father was trying to push them to make up, so he took Josephine’s hand. 

Her muscles tensed instantly, and she shook him off without hesitation. Not wanting things to get too awkward, she turned on her heel, walked over to the bedside table, and picked up a fruit knite to peel an apple. 

Zayn glanced at her and responded calmly, “She’s my wife. Of course, I’ll take good care of her. I would never let anything happen to her.” 

Josephine couldn’t help but sneer as soon as his words fell 

“As for your older brother, he’s celeback. Now that I’m in the hospital, you should help him get things in order.” 

Turning to Yvan, he asked, “yvan, are you planning to stay, or are you just going to visit your old man and leave again? 

Yvan shrugged, his lips curling into a faint smile. “I haven’t decided yet. Depends on my mood.” 

“You’re unbelievable!” Joe’s face twisted with frustration. “Three years ago, you said you wanted to experience life while you were young. I allowed you to haven’t nagged you once in the past three years. But don’t you think it’s time to settle down?
