Chapter 59 

“Thank you, Josephine. You always know what I like and what I want.” 

As soon as she finished her sentence, a female voice amongst the crowd interjected, “What are you guys talking about? What a lively atmosphere!! 

Josephine was stunned as she slowly lifted her gaze and saw Nadine walking toward them, wearing the red dress that she had helped design 

The guests were shocked to see her. “Who is she? I have never seen her.” 

“I have no idea as well. Never seen her.” 

Nadine walked toward Winnie with a smile and presented her gift with both hands as she said, “Happy Birthday to you, Mrs. Shaw. May you be more beautiful each 

Winnie nodded nonchalantly and replied, “How thoughtful of you.” She accepted Nadine’s gift without any intention to open it and passed it to the butler. 

Nadine’s face froze and she averted her gaze when she saw the shoe box in Josephine’s hands, Nadine had an incredulous look on her face as she covered her mouth in a very exaggerated manner. 

“Huh, this pair of shoes, why does it look exactly like the pair I just bought?” As she spoke, Nadine purposely swayed her ankles. 

Josephine was startled as she looked down. Nadine had on a pair of red high heels which looked exactly the same as the “one–and–only” pair she was holding in her 

hands 

What was happening? The crowd was also in a slight uproar when they saw Nadine’s shoes. 

“It really looks the same. It’s like the same pair.” 

“Didn’t she say it was the one–and–only pair in the world?” 

“Could it be that Mrs. Forbes just bought a random pair of shoes to pacify Mrs. Shaw? 

“Oh my, I feel so awkward for her. She tried to pass off something inferior as superior and was exposed right away!” 

“Thad no idea Mrs. Forbes was someone like this. I had always thought she was a nice and generous person. You really can’t judge a book by its cover.” 

The crowd around them was discussing the incident in loud whispers and it was loud enough for everyone present to hear it. 

Nadine looked at Josephine. She almost laughed out loud when she saw Josephine’s flustered and confused look as she compared the shoes Nadine was wearing and the shoes she held in her hands. 

Nadine was secretly pleased with herself as she thought, “Josephine, oh, Josephine. I’d hate to be in your shoes now.” 

“Are you sure this is the one–and–only pair of shoes in the world? You must be joking. I bought mine at the designated shor section for Thompson at the department store. They might be limited edition, but there are at least a few dozen pairs of shoes with the same design in the world. It’s quite available actually. Mrs. Forbes, could you have made a mistake?” 

Josephine shook her head slowly. “Impossible, Thompson will never make a mistake this silly.” 

Zayn snorted coldly and said, “I told you so. That Thompson guy is not trustworthy. You didn’t believe me. See? Now, you’ve been deceived. Mrs. Shaw, I am sorry. Josephine really wanted to give you something uniquely yours, but unfortunately, she’s been duped by Thompson”
