Chapter 39
Josephine brushed Zayn’s hand off of hers, her patience finally ninning out “Zayn, this isn’t a joke. That necklace belongs to me. Please give it back
Just as the tension between them escalated, Nadine walked out with a toss of her curly hair and a sweet smile. “What’s got Mrs. Forbes so worked up now?
Josephine slowly tumed to face Nadine. “The necklace you’re wearing is mine. I’m asking you to retum it,
This one?” Nadine reached up to touch the necklace around her neck and eyed Zayn. “Mr. Forbes gave this to me. Do you have any proot that it belongs to you?–
Prool? The pendant on the necklace was engraved with the letters “josephine“. Unless she was blind, she could clearly see that it was hers.
Was Nadine seriously asking for proof? It was obvious she was lying through her teeth and had no shame about it.
Her breaths became quick and shallow, her anger clouding her judgment. Acting on impulse, she reached out to grab the necklace around Nadine’s neck
But before she could even make contact, Nadine let out a loud groan, dramatically clutching her neck and falling backwards with a thud.
Josephine was taken aback, She had only seen this kind of exaggerated injury acting in IV d
dramas and movies. And now, she was witnessing it first–hand?
She scoffed, not giving her actions a
cany weight, and marched forward to retrieve her necklace
But she felt a firm grip on her wrist, causing her to turn and see Zayn’s Impatient glare.
“Are you finished now? We’re in a hotel. There are many important people around. Do you!
ou have to create a disturbance and draw attention?
“Let go, Zayn, I’m just taking back what’s mine!” She broke free from his grip and leapt toward Nadine.
“Ahhh!” Nadine let out a piercing shriek, Josephine furrowed her brow in annoyance and stayed focused on getting the necklace
Just as she was about to reach for it, someone shoved her hard from behind. She crashed into the wall with a loud thud, hitting the back of her head. “Josephine!”
