One thing Zayn didn't lie about was the nightmare he'd had the night before.
It was so terrifying that he woke up covered in sweat.
In his dream, Josephine married another man. That man was more handsome and more accomplished than himself. Even his family background was many times more prestigious than his. In front of that man, Zayn felt like a speck of dust.
Facing a perfect man like that, Zayn didn't even dare speak of getting her back.
What could he possibly say to make her give up on a man like that and choose someone as unworthy as him?
He was in despair and powerless. He wanted to die.
When he woke up, an icy chill seeped down his spine, suffocating him.
He was scared to death.
The world outside was vast, and many men were better than him. He couldn't let Josephine roam freely. Otherwise, she would eventually fall for someone else.
After much deliberation, he decided to come clean.
Even though she might disapprove of his methods, or that her impression of him would falter, he thought he could keep her by his side by playing the victim.
As long as he could keep her by his side, with her loyal personality, she would never leave him.
All he needed was for her to come see him.
He had been waiting from morning till noon and even until the evening. Eventually, the sun had set, but Josephine still wasn't there.
No matter how many times he'd texted or called, begging for her to come over, she would give him the same reply.
"I'm taking care of my friend in the hospital."
In the past, she had never made him wait like this before.
