The phone rang. Steven reached for the phone and glanced at the caller ID. It was Jessica.

With his eyes shut, Steven asked weakly, "Do you need something from me?"

"Of course. You're not doing too well lately, aren't you? You're the father of my child. I just wanted to know how you're doing. Are you okay?" Jessica asked.

Steven answered half-heartedly, "I'm okay."

Jessica had been thinking about everything that had happened between her and Steven. Before that, Jessica believed that Steven actually loved Annalise. But after thinking back, Jessica realized Steven's change was too sudden.

When Steven was still married to Annalise, he would work during the day and take Zachary to Jessica's house after work. They would stay at Jessica's house until the late hours of the night. Even after he got home, he would call Jessica and spend a long time talking over the phone.

But everything changed after he divorced Annalise.

Steven, who used to be reluctant to spend any time with Annalise, suddenly realized how Annalise loved him and began to distance himself from Jessica.

Jessica couldn't understand when Steven had fallen for Annalise. She wondered if Steven had loved Annalise since the beginning yet was unaware of his own feelings despite knowing that Annalise loved him.
