When Veronica got the news, she was out on a date with her boyfriend, Moran.
Upon receiving the call from home, she rushed back immediately, bringing Moran along. After bursting through the door, she excitedly threw her arms around Ellinor. “Ellinor! Ellinor! My brother's back, right? Is it true?”
Ellinor was almost knocked off balance by Veronica's enthusiasm. She steadied herself before responding, “Yes, it's true.”
Tears of joy spilled from Veronica's eyes. “He's really back! Where is he? Where's my brother?”
“He's taking a shower.” Ellinor replied. “Let me go; I can barely breathe. You'll see him soon.”
Realizing she was gripping Ellinor too tightly, Veronica quickly released Ellinor. “I'm sorry, Ellinor. I'm just... I'm just so overwhelmed!”
Her excitement was so palpable that she almost fell backwards. Fortunately, Moran was there to catch her.
After steadying Veronica, Moran turned to Ellinor with an embarrassed smile. “Sorry, Ellinor. She doesn't know her own strength.”
His tone suggested that he was already considering Veronica as part of his family.
Upon hearing this, Ellinor smiled at them both. There was a hint of matronly warmth in her gaze. She nodded. “It's okay; I'm used to it. Moran, why don't you take her to the living room? I'll go to the kitchen and prepare dinner.”
“Sure.” Moran agreed politely and led Veronica into the living room.
Ellinor went into the kitchen and ordered some additional dishes for dinner. All of them were dishes that Veronica’s brother, Theo, used to love. She then asked the housekeeper to prepare two cups of hot chocolate for Moran and Veronica in the living room.
When Ellinor entered the living room, only Moran was sitting there. Veronica was nowhere to be seen.
Ellinor naturally took a seat on the couch next to Moran, asking, “Where's Veronica?”
Moran chuckled helplessly. “She couldn't wait. She rushed upstairs to find her brother.”
