"Marcus, it's getting late. You guys need to call it a night. You're flying solo with Tristan the day after tomorrow, and you probably won't sleep well. You have to rest up."
Marcus glanced at Sophia. "Hmm, all packed?"
Sophia nodded. "All set! I've put everything you and Tristan brought in your suitcases. I've arranged for dad's driver to take you guys. Once you get to M State, our people will pick you up."
Marcus's expression remained unchanged, and he slightly nodded.
He knew that Sophia would never let him travel alone with Tristan. She would certainly have someone watch over him to restrict his freedom.
"Tristan, let's go! Time for bed!" Marcus gently tapped Tristan, who was still engrossed in his game of chess.
Tristan was still trying to figure out how to turn the tables on his dad when Sophia interrupted him, leaving him quite disgruntled. He glared at Sophia before following his dad back to their room.
Of course, Sophia noticed Tristan's glare, but she didn't care. Now wasn't the time to worry about the kid's mood.
Her current concern was that the internal investigation here wouldn't be resolved anytime soon, leaving her stuck in this predicament for who knew how long.
After watching Marcus and Tristan return to their room, Sophia headed to her father's room to inquire about the progress of the investigation.
In their room, Tristan watched Sophia leave through the crack in his door before pouting and turning to his dad.
"Dad, are we really going back to M State? Can we come back afterwards? If we can't, does that mean I won't see Ellinor again?"
Marcus patted his son's head, saying cryptically, "We'll see her again."
…
After knocking on the door of her father's room, Sophia walked in.
