This sweet term of endearment, when used by her son to refer to another man, left a sour taste in her mouth.
Adrian was overjoyed to see his mother. He clung to her tightly. "Mom, when did you get here? Handsome Dad just told me he'd bring me to see you, and I believed him! I didn't expect it to happen so fast!"
Ellinor rapped her son's head lightly. "You little rascal! I can find you no matter where you go! It has nothing to do with your so-called handsome Dad!"
Adrian blinked his large eyes in surprise. "Mom, do you mean...you've met handsome Dad?"
The mere thought of that man made Ellinor feel uneasy. Instead of answering, she asked, "Who allowed you to casually call another man 'Dad'?"
Adrian grimaced. "At first, I didn’t call him that, but handsome Dad told me I should always call him dad here to prevent Sophia from finding out."
Ellinor furrowed her brows and crouched down to examine her son.
Adrian had been staying here these past few days. Since learning about it, Ellinor had been worried sick, fearing he wasn't eating or sleeping well or that the man wouldn't take good care of him or protect him.
But now, Adrian looked even more chubby and well-cared for than before.
Finally, she felt relieved. "Alright, stay here for now, and listen to...that man."
Adrian cocked his head. "Mom, what do you mean? Aren't you here to take me home? I should stay here?"
Ellinor nodded. "I can't take you back for now. Stay here with...with your handsome Dad. I'll visit you when I get a chance."
Adrian was confused. "Why? Can't you take me and handsome Dad together? Let handsome Dad come to our house and live with us!"
Ellinor narrowed her eyes at her son. "Why do you want me to take him?"
