After Amanda hung up the phone and turned around, she saw Sophia still clutching her cell and couldn't help but nag at her, "Still glued to your phone while you're sick? You gotta rest up and give your body some downtime to bounce back."
As she spoke, she reached out, trying to swipe Sophia's phone away. Sophia subtly dodged her outstretched hand.
"I'm fine, godmom; don't worry about me."
Sophia said, tapping her phone to check WhatsApp. The first chat at the top was from Brandon. She furrowed her brows in confusion and opened the chat with Brandon.
The latest message was a video call icon with only a few seconds of call duration. But he hadn’t replied to her last apology message.
Sophia frowned again, puzzled as to why he would video call her out of the blue. That was not typical CEO behavior for a big corporation. Normally, a text back would do. Video calling seemed too forward, especially since they weren’t close.
Seeing Sophia frown at her phone, Amanda couldn't help but worry, "What's up?"
Sophia snapped back to reality and looked at her, "It's nothing."
After a moment's thought, Sophia couldn’t help but gently say, "Godmom, if I get calls on my phone, you don’t have to fuss with it. Just leave it be."
"I was just worried they were trying to reach you for something urgent, and I didn't want them to think you were ignoring them, so I picked up to explain the situation," Amanda said, not upset in the slightest.
"It's okay. I'll clear it up with them later," Sophia reassured her.
Amanda nodded, "Alright then."
Just then, the doorbell rang.
"Must be the waiter bringing the thermometer. I'll go check," Amanda said as she turned and headed for the door.
Sophia's attention went back to her phone, eyeing the recent call log. After hesitating, she messaged Brandon, "Sorry, I wasn't feeling well just now and couldn't take the video call. Is there something you needed?"
