A cold glint flashed in Matthew's eyes. "Who are you telling to get out?"
The talent marketplace was a designated area in Lambda City, with buildings where talent agencies could set up shop to provide services and make profits.
But this guy had the audacity to tell him to leave?
Oliver smiled coldly. "I'm telling you to get out. What are you going to do about it? Let me tell you, I call the shots here in the talent marketplace. If you're looking for a fight, I'm happy to oblige!"
Matthew suddenly struck Oliver hard across the face. The latter stumbled back a few steps before his back hit the wall, bringing him to a stop.
He held his face, seeing stars, and it took him a while to regain his senses. Pointing at Matthew, he exclaimed, "You… you dare hit me… in my own territory?"
Matthew slowly walked over, and without another word, delivered another slap.
Oliver's vision went black as his body swayed. He only managed to stay on his feet by holding onto the wall for support.
Seeing Matthew's cold expression, he was so frightened that he covered his face and shrank back, not daring to say another word.
Matthew's voice was stern. "Aren't you going to give me an explanation? If not, I'll keep hitting you!"
Seeing him raise his hand, Oliver trembled in fear. "No, don't hit me. I'll tell you why. It's our boss' order. I don't know the exact reason."
Matthew frowned. "Your boss? Who is he?"
Oliver seemed to gain some confidence when mentioning his boss. "This is just a talent agency. My boss owns properties all over Lambda City. It's impossible to meet him here."
Matthew grabbed Oliver's collar and ordered, "Then, take me to see your boss."
Oliver's expression changed immediately upon hearing this. "I-I'm not allowed to meet him. If I disturb him, it could be very bad for me. You… you probably shouldn't go either. You can't afford to offend him!"
"Can't afford to offend him?" Matthew had no interest in debating with him. "Just take me to him."
Oliver gritted his teeth. Disturbing his boss might get him scolded, but he was more eager to see Matthew suffer. "Fine, I'll take you right now!"
Matthew pulled Oliver into the back seat of his car. "Drive!"
Sara started the car, following the directions Oliver provided.
On the way, Oliver kept making phone calls. Halfway there, he suddenly changed the destination. "Go to Rose Bar. My boss is there."
Sara added the new location on the GPS and planned a new route.
Matthew's eyes flickered when he heard "Rose Bar", but he remained silent. What had happened just now was strange, and he wanted to see just who was behind it all.
…
During the day, Rose Bar was deserted. There were no flashing lights, no partygoers, and no dancing. A cleaning lady at the bar led them inside.
Oliver seemed nervous, slowing down as he walked. He said to Matthew, "If you apologize now and compensate me, we can call it a day. If you meet my boss, you'll regret it."
Matthew was curious about this boss that Oliver was so fearful of. "Is your boss that famous?"
