After what felt like ages without a trace of little Henry or any signs of trouble, Mia finally felt a sense of relief wash over her.
She moved to the side and, in a sudden twist of fate, "twisted her ankle." She let out a yelp and crumpled to the ground next to Annie. In an instant, all eyes and weapons were trained on Mia. "Whoa, hold on! I just got spooked, and my legs went weak. I lost my balance, that’s all!"
With their backs pressed together, Mia was unable to untie her own hands but managed to free Annie's. Both had seen each other in action before, so it only took a slight nudge from Mia for Annie to catch on to her plan.
Mia decided to buy some time. "Hey, how about we talk this out? You don’t have to kill us. Andre’s loaded; you could just ransom us for cash. I’ll totally play along."
Once Annie's ropes were off, she began loosening Mia's. But before they could finish, Kon yanked Mia up abruptly, "Almost forgot you were here. Who offed Vulture?"
"There were so many people at that party, I didn't catch her name. But show me some photos, and I bet I can point her out," Mia bluffed, fiddling with the knots to keep anyone from noticing she was almost free.
Meanwhile, at The Silent Ring HQ, Andre picked up a call from his buddy. "Hey, Conner."
"I’m in the loop. Heading back now."
Andre lounged in his sleek, black chair, eyeing the hitman still at his mercy. Three corpses were already cooling on the floor, and as another was dragged in, Andre pressed him again, "Where does Kon hang out?"
The hitman, glancing nervously at the bodies, stammered, "I swear, I don’t know. We’re all over the place, just following orders. No clue where Mr. Kon is."
Andre shut his eyes, and with a quick gesture, another body thudded to the ground.
Grinding his teeth, Andre pounded the chair’s armrest, his face clouded with an intensity never seen before.
His team stood by in silence, awaiting orders.
