In that house, she cooked when she was supposed to, and after that, she would start cleaning the house. Also, just like Eevonne had said, she truly was very capable when it came to chores. Not only was she able to fix the plumbing and sewage, but she was also able to fix the showerhead, and electric circuit, and install light tubes.
Yvonne's parents were truly impressed by her.
"My child, how do you know so many crafts? Which college did you graduate from? I think the average college graduates now aren't as capable as you are," Vincent asked curiously.
Eevonne wiped her hands, sat next to Yvonne's parents, and said humble, "Mister and Missus Yates, L.I'm not a college graduate. I didn't even go to high school. Actually... Actually, I didn’t even finish the ninth grade. I only have the elementary... diploma."
Eevonne was no longer vain at that moment, but whenever she spoke of her academic qualifications, she would still stutter and be very embarrassed. She laughed awkwardly after she told them that and hung her head without saying anything. She was thinking that if both the elderly people were to drive her out, then she truly would be very miserable. That was because she liked the atmosphere in this house very much and she liked Yvonne's parents. She would hang around there whenever she had nothing to do.
"My child! How are you so talented when you've not even graduated from middle school? I've been an educator for so many years, and it’s very rare to see such a talented person like you. It's such a pity. Why didn't you go to college? However, it's not too late yet. You're still very young. You're younger than Yvonne, aren’t you? Don’t give up on yourself when you're still so young. You’re just about ten years later than other people, so what? There's a saying that people should learn throughout their lives! If you really want to study and expand your knowledge, we can help you." Vincent looked at Eevonne very seriously.
That was something Eevonne had never expected. She was having a walnut at that moment. That outer shell of the walnut was removed by Yvonne's mother. After she put the walnut in her mouth, Eevonne was stunned with her mouth agape, so the walnut was almost falling out of her mouth. The way she looked was quite interesting to both the elderly people who saw it.
Helena laughed as she was amused by her. "Silly child, why are you in a daze?"
It was after a long while that Eevonne asked with slurred speech as she was chewing on the walnut at the same time, "R -Really? Are you serious, Mister and Missus Yates?"
