Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 175

After dinner, my parents pulled me into the study and placed my identification documents on the table.

I stepped forward. Just as I was about to pick them up, Mom stopped me.

"We can give this to you. But first, we need to ask you a few questions," she said solemnly.

She looked at me with deep concern and asked, "Have you really thought this through? Is Eric truly the one?"

Dad gazed at me lovingly. "Sweetheart, our family isn't struggling to put food on the table. There's no need for you to rush into marriage. Your mother and I can take care of you. Even if you never get married, we'll always support you."

I felt a surge of warmth spread through my chest. Regardless, I nodded firmly. "I've thought it through. Eric treats me very well, and I sincerely want to marry him. It may seem rushed, but this is a decision I made after careful consideration."

I knew exactly what my parents were worried about. Even though they had a good impression of Eric, they couldn't fully trust him just yet. After all, I had been hurt by Jeremiah before. They didn't want to see history repeat itself.

"Mom, Dad, we've really thought this through." I met their eyes earnestly while subtly glancing at the documents on the table.

The main reason I came home today was to take them with me. Eric and I had already agreed to get our marriage certificate tomorrow.

Seeing how resolute I was, Dad let out a long sigh and handed me the documents.

But just as I was about to take them, he suddenly paused. "Are you absolutely sure?"

"I am!" Without giving him another chance to hesitate, I snatched the documents from his hands and stuffed them into my bag.

Clapping my hands, I playfully winked at them.

Dad was momentarily stunned before chuckling in resignation.

Now that the documents were in my hands, there was nothing left to argue about.

"Let's call Eric in, then," Dad said, waving me off.
