Everyone suddenly fell silent after I said what I said. After a brief moment, Elsa poked her head out from behind Jack and said, "We're family, Jane. Jack was just a little mad back then. That's why he went against you. In fact, he didn't have high hopes for the project he chose either."
Elsa blinked innocently and played the role of a peacemaker. "Let's just treat this as a joke. We can laugh it off and move on."
At the next moment, Eric laughed out loud. "How hilarious."
He met Elsa's puzzled gaze and continued, "The project is worth a billion dollars, yet you're calling it a joke. Now, that has got to be the joke of the year."
Elsa heard what he said, and her face immediately turned red. Her eyes also turned red in a matter of a second, making her look pitiful.
I stared at Jack coldly. "Have you stooped so low that you need Elsa to protect you? It's just 5% of shares. Weren't you bold and all-inspiring when we made the bet? So, what exactly are you doing now?"
My words hurt Jack's pride deeply. He glared at me as he reached out and pulled Elsa out of the way. When he turned around and looked at her, his gaze immediately turned gentle.
"It's okay. You don't have to speak up for me. I made a bet with Jane, and I have to bear the consequences despite the outcome."
Jack turned around and looked at me. He said through gritted teeth, "If that's the case, you're going to have to do the share transfer procedure with me tomorrow."
My lips curled into a grin. I turned around and took a document out of my bag before handing it to him. "Forget tomorrow. I've already prepared a share transfer agreement. All you have to do is sign it."
Jack was stunned and stood frozen where he was. After a brief moment, he finally took the agreement from me. His voice was trembling when he said, "I can't believe you prepared it beforehand."
I shrugged, adopting an innocent expression. "Are you going to say that I tampered with it?"
Jack cleared his throat because I had just exposed his actual thoughts. His expression turned solemn. "Why would I? This is a huge project. You need someone who's powerful enough to do something like that."
