Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 171

I turned around and saw Jack and Elsa standing at the door as expected. They hadn't even taken off their coats, yet he couldn't resist getting a shot in.

Dad immediately frowned when he heard what Jack said. He snarled, "Do you have any idea what you're doing, Jack?"

Jack scoffed. He took off his coat and walked over, with Elsa following him quietly.

"I know what I'm doing. Does she, though?" Jack pointed at me with a disdainful expression on his face. "She just got divorced, yet she wasted no time in finding her next husband. Is she that eager for a man? If you ask me, she doesn't dare to have a wedding ceremony because she doesn't want anyone to find out that she's promiscuous!"

Dad was infuriated. He took a step forward and intended to hit Jack, but I reached out and stopped him. I wasn't concerned about Jack, though. It was just that Eric was discharged today, so I didn't want things to get too ugly.

To my surprise, Jack immediately snorted coldly when he saw me stopping Dad. "Drop the act. You don't even care about the family's reputation, so stop making it look like you're the good guy here."

I rolled my eyes and retorted, "You keep talking about the Brown family's reputation, yet you failed to take care of it. If you cared about it, you'd stop butting your head in where it doesn't belong.

"I have the freedom to marry whoever I want, and I can handle the repercussions myself if something goes wrong and affects the Brown family. Unlike someone, who always waits for someone else to clean up her mess."

Jack immediately stood in front of Elsa and shielded her. "Leave her out of this. She's just a kid!"

I laughed and applauded. "Check her social security card if you don't know how old she is. Are you seriously still treating her like she's a kid? The way I see it, both of you are very immature. Forget about the real world, you two should just go back to kindergarten and stay where you belong."
