Return of the Crowned Heiress novel Chapter 703

Felicia mercilessly shattered Maurice's fantasy. "It wasn't for you. I would've done the same for anyone. And Maurice, I won't be grateful for the sacrifices you made for me. You and me are even once I get rid of the venomous creature in your body."

Maurice was living in a delusion, and Felicia's bluntness was enough to break any lingering sentiment.

His smile froze. His gaze sharpened, locking onto Felicia's face. For a moment, his expression was laced with frustration. But in the end, all that remained was resignation. "Did you have to put it that bluntly?"

Felicia shrugged. "I was just speaking the truth."

He was speechless. He lowered his eyes, concealing the turmoil in them. The momentary daze made his tall figure seem lonely and desolate.

To be fair, Maurice was handsome. His sharp features were sharp yet tinged with an unnatural allure. When he was arrogant, there was an intimidating air about him. But now, he looked almost pitiful.

Unfortunately, he was dealing with Felicia.

She packed up her needle kit, not sparing him another glance. "Alright, get some rest. We set sail first thing in the morning."

With that, she turned to leave.

Maurice finally spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. Felicia might not have even heard him if the room wasn't so quiet. "I did this of my own will. From the very start, I never expected you to be grateful. And I don't need your pity. I just… didn't want you to get hurt. That's all."

A gust of wind blew in from the window, scattering his words into the air.
