By the time Pete tried to stop the robed figure, it was too late.
The vehicle continued speeding along the treacherous mountain road, and no one knew where the next bombing would hit. If their luck ran out, they'd be blown to pieces in an instant.
The rough terrain made the ride unbearably bumpy, leaving everyone in the car looking pale and sickly.
The robed figure was chanting something under his breath while shaking the bronze bell rhythmically. The sound was eerie and constant, but no one cared to listen.
Pete was utterly exasperated.
How did things spiral into this chaos? This was nothing like what he had imagined!
Based on his calculations, Stephan wouldn't dare act recklessly as long as Caleb's life was at stake. With the child as leverage, Pete was confident Stephan would tread carefully.
Instead, here they were, stuck in this relentless bombing. The other party showed no regard for anything or anyone. Not a shred of mercy was shown. Was Stephan not afraid of Caleb being tormented to death?
Pete gritted his teeth and pulled out his phone to make another call. Before he could dial,
Johanna, pale from the rough ride, suddenly looked up and shouted, "There's a helicopter coming!"
Pete immediately glanced up and spotted a helicopter approaching in the distance. It was heading straight for their location.
His face turned ashen. Abandoning his earlier attempt to stop the robed figure, he urged, "Hurry up! They've locked onto us! If we don't act now, the next strike will hit us directly!"
The robed figure's chanting grew more intense, his movements with the bronze bell becoming increasingly precise and deliberate. A low, rhythmic hum accompanied his words as he muttered, "Come to Mount Farstone and meet me, Felicia. Come meet me!"
The Heart Eater inside the bell was activated. At the same time, the twin venomous creature inside its other host began to stir, taking control of its host's body and mind.
