Clark tugged at his hair, clutching his head in agony.
The one assigned to investigate the case was the smallest mercenary, Monkey. He asked, "Before and after the incident, where did your girlfriend go?"
"School, the tea shop, the bookstore, and the entire street where we shopped twice." Clark didn't even need to think. He recited it all from memory. "I was with her the whole time."
"Oh, right." He suddenly remembered something and added, "She also went to the hospital to register her grandmother for a leg check-up. She got some medication and came out. I went with her for that too."
"Anything else?"
"No, that's it. Just those places."
"Alright. I've noted everything down. If there's anything else we need your cooperation with, I'll contact you. Can you leave me your contact info?" Monkey, holding a notebook and pen with a serious expression, looked convincing.
At least from the video, no one would guess that his true identity was that of a mercenary.
Clark hurriedly gave him his phone number.
Having gotten the necessary information, Monkey turned to leave but was carefully stopped by Clark.
With red eyes, the young man pleaded, "Sir, please, if you get any leads, notify me immediately. If… If you can, please save her."
Before meeting him, Monkey had fabricated his identity as an investigator, claiming he would look into Jennifer's disappearance and arrange a rescue. Truth be told, Clark didn't believe it, but he had no other options.
At least someone was still willing to "deceive" him for information, and there was always that tiny possibility they would help find her.
Monkey nodded and left.
The video ended there.
