Return of the Crowned Heiress novel Chapter 516

"What? What should we do now?"

Myra was on the verge of tears. Clutching Felicia's arm in desperation, she begged, "Licia, can you please do something? You're skilled in medicine! You can't just stand by and watch your father die!"

Felicia felt a headache coming from all the noise. She stared at Myra and asked, "If I really wanted to stand by and do nothing, would I have even helped you in the first place?"

Myra's frantic pleas made her feel like she was being cornered.

If she helped now, it would seem like she was giving in under pressure with no credit to her name. That would sting her pride. But if she didn't help, she'd be branded as heartless for life.

Felicia shook off Myra's grip and moved away to search for medicinal herbs.

Myra froze for a moment, finally realizing the weight of her earlier words. They were laden with guilt and moral coercion, implying she didn't trust Felicia to help unless forced. That wasn't the first time she did that. In fact, she did it all the time.

She had never truly trusted Felicia.

She thought back to before the family went bankrupt. Anytime Kayla spun half-truths or outright slandered Felicia, she had believed it without question. She had never even bothered to verify the facts.

Her hands began to tremble as the thought crossed her mind. Quietly, she asked Felicia, "Licia, why didn't you come to your grandfather's funeral after he passed?"

Felicia had just returned with some herbs in her hands. She crushed them into a paste and applied it to Dexter's wound. Then, she sprinkled a layer of medicinal powder over it.

Only after finishing her work did she respond, her tone calm and detached, "At the time, I had been kidnapped. When I escaped and returned to Khogend, I went straight to the Walsh residence… Well, you know what happened after that."

Yes, Myra knew very well.
