After finishing her tasks, Myra turned toward the door. Felicia quickly ducked down.
Felicia wasn't even sure why she felt the need to sneak around. Perhaps she didn't want to see the couple in such a pitiful state. Or maybe there was something else weighing on her heart and bringing back memories from long ago.
In her miserable childhood, she often curled up in a corner after being beaten by her adoptive parents. She had imagined countless times what her biological parents might be like. She pictured them as a loving couple who supported each other through thick and thin.
If Felicia hadn't been switched at birth, she would have grown up in a family full of love. And her parents were indeed in love just as Felicia had imagined. Yet they were not the parents she had envisioned.
Felicia crouched in the corner for a long time. Kerry happened to pass by and was startled. "Ms. Fuller, are you... crying?"
Crying? Felicia snapped out of her thoughts and instinctively touched her face, but there were no tears.
Kerry blinked innocently and chuckled. "Maybe I was mistaken."
Felicia gave him a weird smile. "Playing tricks on your employer? Say goodbye to your bonus this month."
"What? No, Ms. Fuller! I'm sorry..." Kerry followed after her and apologized relentlessly.
Felicia finally relented and sighed. "If you don't want your bonus cut, then stay outside and make sure no one comes in."
"Got it!" Kerry grinned brightly, her already pretty face lighting up with glee.
