'Do you trust me, Augustus?' I asked, looking deep into those emerald-green eyes.

He stared at me for some time with a blank expression. His body tensed up and his jaw tightened at my question, giving me an answer.

I sighed and lowered my head. I could not help but smile at his silence.

"How long do I have to suffer to gain your trust, Augustus? For two years?" I asked, feeling helpless and sad at my own luck.

"Can we not start it from the beginning, Augustus?" I asked with a lingering hope inside my soul.

However, nothing came from him and I realised that I am not gonna get anything at this point.

My mate, who claims me his, does not trust me at all. Without being rejected, I am living a rejected life. This is one of the hardest truths in my life.

I looked up into his eyes once again. His silence is nerve-wracking. I can't take this anymore.

I only smiled at him. "See you tomorrow, mate."

Saying, I walked away from him. I did not look behind and walked out of the room and find some random room in the west wing and decided to stay there for the night.

I am not in the mood to face him now. I need some alone time to digest the news that my mate silently rejected to invest his trust in me.

Am I that bad? Maybe, I am. Or else, why would everyone hate me that way?

And now, thinking about it, Augustus never loved me before. He never said he loved me, he just claimed me as his like a product he is obsessed with.

I laid down flatly on the bed, staring up at the ceiling and soon, my eyelids turned heavier and I was drowned in the darkness.

I woke up with birds chirping like usual mornings. I yawned and stretched my arms, watching out of the window.

I turned to the other side and the bed was empty. Sigh... For the last two days, it's been happening and I am not used to it.

I immediately sat up on the bed, looking around. This... This is our bedroom! But, I did fall asleep here!

'Augustus Brought us here.' I heard Sierra's leisurely tone.

'What? When!?' I asked, anxiously.

'Calm down. You fall asleep in that room. He finds you and brings you here. He slept beside us all night and now went to the bathroom.' She said.

Hearing her, I suddenly realised that there was a faint smell of dark coffee around me. I turned my head to the closed washroom door and realised it was coming from there.

'Don't be surprised. He cares for us.' Sierra purred and my eyes narrowed at her.

'You are suddenly at his side? Last night you were about to kill him!' I reminded her as she blushed a little.

'Last night, I spend a long time with Damon.' Sierra spoke. 'And he told me lots of things about him and Augustus. I realised that, Augustus is not bad. He loves us so much, Charlotte. It's just his expressive way is a little different.'

I couldn't be happy like her. 'Sometimes, it's love is not enough to be happy, Sierra. I need him to trust me.'
