No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 160

Lucas was silent for a long time on the other end of the phone.

He could never have imagined that Noelle had actually become the city's top scorer.

After a long pause, Lucas finally said, "Well, if she's the city's top scorer, then she deserves to be celebrated."

His younger sister, who had always seemed unremarkable, suddenly became the top scorer in the city. The shock of it left him struggling to process it.

"Exactly. That's exactly how I feel. I have to be there for such an important occasion. I'll finish my meal here and then bring her over. As for Justin, you keep an eye on things over there."

"Got it, no problem. Since Noelle did so well, should we throw her a celebration banquet as well?"

Ever since the loss of the competition, Lucas had been reflecting on his actions. He realized he had been too harsh on Noelle in the past, and now he wanted to improve their sibling relationship.

Frank replied with relief, "How could I forget? Of course, we need to throw her a grand celebration. She's the city's top scorer—when Donovan hears this, he'll be thrilled."

After hanging up, Frank entered the restaurant, excitement bubbling inside him.

Noelle was sitting at the center of the room, the focus of everyone's attention.

When Frank entered, someone stood up and said, "The top scorer's brother is here! Let's give him a seat."

Frank sat next to Noelle, feeling an uneasy sense of unfamiliarity.

In the past, he was always respected as Mr. Liddell. He had never imagined a day would come when he would be riding on Noelle's coattails.

But despite the discomfort, he couldn't help getting swept up in the festive atmosphere, and his mood began to lift.

He poured himself a drink and raised his glass to Lionel and Bruce. "I toast to both of you. Thanks to your support, Noelle has been able to achieve such great results."

"Not at all. It's all thanks to Noelle's hard work. We didn't do much to help," Lionel said.

Noelle watched as Frank drank glass after glass. She couldn't help but tug on his sleeve, whispering, "Are you trying to kill yourself?"

"Don't worry, Nelly. I'm fine. It's a happy day, and I should be the one to toast to you."

Frank had a lump in his throat. He felt as if he had to do something for Noelle—otherwise, he might lose his mind.

He made the rounds, toasting to everyone on Noelle's behalf.

Noelle was starting to feel uncomfortable.
