Noelle ran off right after.
Cedric stepped out of the elevator and saw her slamming the door behind her. He rubbed his temples, still a bit dizzy from drinking so much. It had been a while since he had drunk this much.
He returned to the nearby apartment, where Alfred sat on the couch playing on his phone. He looked up and asked, "You're back. How did it go?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Don't play dumb. You mentioned having a girlfriend during dinner, and Noelle's reaction was pretty strong. Don't pretend you didn't notice."
Cedric poured himself a glass of water and leaned against the table.
His eyes were dark, slowly swirling the glass. "Once she goes to college, she'll forget about today."
She would grow once she saw the wider world. The only thing he could do was watch her go.
Alfred glanced at Cedric. "Let's hope so."
But he still felt something was off with Cedric. He cared too much about Noelle.
Maybe Cedric didn't even realize it, but this concern might have slowly transformed into something else without him noticing.
In the following days, Noelle felt awkward around Cedric. After all, she did like him a little. But now, he was involved with someone else.
At this point, she was almost certain that her online boyfriend from her past life was not Cedric.
Though their in-game names were the same, it couldn't have been the same person. Noelle thought about how her online crush from her past life would soon appear in the game in less than half a month.
She thought she might just bump into him. So, every afternoon and evening, she made sure to log in on time to grind dungeons because that's how she had met him in her previous life.
However, after several days, she hadn't encountered that name. While streaming one evening, Noelle noticed her fans were asking about the finals.
"Queen Nelly, will you participate in the finals?"
