"Ms. Liddell, please come in."
Noelle saw that Frank was also there. With a calm expression, she said, "I've integrated the tested code into the software, and the work is complete. If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."
"Noelle, I knew you wouldn't disappoint me. I never realized you had so many talents."
He had never expected her to solve the firewall issue. He had hired so many people to solve the issue without success, but she had solved it in just two days.
With a satisfied look, he said, "Now, I'm even more at ease handing this company to you to manage."
"I don't want it," Noelle refused, turning to James. "Just transfer the payment as agreed."
She didn't want to stay any longer.
Frank grew anxious and stood up to block her path. "Noelle, running the company is far more meaningful than doing live streams, and it will be much more profitable. I'm doing this for your own good."
There it was again—for her own good!
Noelle's expression remained calm. "Frank, are you really doing this for my sake, or is it because you want to control everything about me?"
If she returned, things would return to how they were before. He had always chased after her, unable to accept her stepping out of his control.
He froze. "How could you think that? I'm only trying to do right by you, to make up for the things I owe you."
He saw the wariness in her eyes, and a pang of guilt struck his chest. He hadn't expected her to distrust him so much.
Noelle's tone remained steady. "If you truly want what's best for me, stop doing these meaningless things."
She turned and opened the office door, noticing Xenia standing outside with an unpleasant expression. Without sparing her a glance, Noelle returned to her desk, packed her things, and left.
