Mysterious Mr.Richard novel Chapter 53

The scalpel pressed against her neck and gradually deepened, and her face was becoming much paler.

Pearl said, "Evelina, you know my temper. I would never be nice to you if you didn't apologize. If this scalpel makes a cut on your beautiful face, could you still be an actress?"   

Evelina's heart sank after she heard this, and she said in a panic, "I apologize. I'm sorry."

"Call me 'sister.'"

"I'm sorry, sister." Evelina gritted her teeth and said.

"That's better." Being satisfied, Pearl put down her hand and let her go.

As soon as Evelina was released, she immediately stepped back behind the door and kept a safe distance from Pearl. She covered her neck with one hand and said with anger, "Pearl, you're insane. I'll call the police to catch you and sue you for intentional murder."

"Go ahead." Pearl crossed her arms and raised her chin towards the scalpel on the table. She said calmly, "I've left you all the evidence. The police had better take this blunt scalpel as evidence."

"What? Blunt?" Evelina was stunned. Then she looked at the table.

That scalpel was the prop of the crew and it was hard to cut an apple. It was obviously not the scalpel that Pearl frequently used on the operating table.

"You fooled me?" Evelina was furiously mad.

Pearl pulled out the chair and sat down. "I was just trying to scare you. Since you've apologized, I'll let bygones be bygones. Do you still want to learn?"  

Evelina couldn't wait to slam the door and leave. However, Josie stopped her. "Evelina, you have to learn. The director specifically said that you had to be the one in the scene, and can't find a substitute."

Pearl looked at her with leisure, and Evelina felt bitter, just looking at her. 

"Fine, I'll learn!" She gnashed her teeth in anger, "Get the crew to sign a major personal safety insurance for me. Otherwise the drama would not go on. Who knows when I'll die."

Pearl had always kept her word since childhood. As the the first daughter Anthony, she was the apple of the Yonng family's eye. Not only that, but she was also gifted and was able to do pretty much everything well easily.    

She was always top in the class without extra tutoring. She was good at the piano and art too. What's more, Evelina went to dancing classes since she was young. Pearl just observed one class on her holiday, she could immediately do the steps. Even the teacher could not help but praise her.    

Evelina hated her sister very much. When she was young, she often wrote in her diary that she hoped that Pearl would disappear one day.

That wish finally came true seven years ago. However, she was back again, like a continuous nightmare.

"See? When you're suturing, you'll need both hands."

"..."

"It's not right." Pearl tried to grab Evelina's hand, but Evelina avoided it. Pearl saw that Evelina was trembling, and she looked up to see her face alert.

Seeing her like that, Pearl felt a little guilty suddenly .

She was mad about what had happened yesterday. All she wanted was an apology. She only planned to scare her with the scalpel, but she was really terrified. It seemed that she had a deeper misunderstanding of her.

There was a knock outside. It was a crew member. "Dr. Yonng, the director asked what's going on. If you're almost done, we can try one take."   

"Not yet." said Pearl, frowning at the knot tied by Evelina on the human model.

"Why not?" Evelina was unhappy at what she said. She pushed the props away. "I'm not a professional doctor. Isn't it just for show?"  

She had been practicing all morning and was running out of patience.  

The crew member scratched his head and looked embarrassed.

Pearl hesitated for a second and said, "Ok. Let's try one take, and I'll teach her from the side. Then, we can see what the director wants and practice more."

"Why didn't you said that earlier?" Evelina didn't mean to be grateful at all. She moved her wrists and stood up, "What a waste of my time."   

She left without looking back after saying this. The remaining staff smiled at Pearl and said, "Dr. Yonng, please don't mind. It is too hot, and everyone is not in a very good mood."

Pearl forced a smile, "It's fine. I'll pack up and get ready for the shoot."

"I can do it. Just leave everything to me."

"Alright."

After Pearl left and closed the door, the staff turned to face the table. The smile on his face immediately fell when he looked at the props on the table.

In the operating room, all sorts of surgical instruments were laid out.

After checking, Pearl said to the director, "No problem, we can start."

According to the script, the female lead would have an operation for the male lead. Her whole face would be covered by a mask, so she could only express her emotions through her eyes.  

There was no problem for Evelina in acting. After all, she graduated from an acting school and had been in the industry for a long time. Unluckily, she could not say the same for her surgery skills. 

"Cut, it's not ok." The director glanced at Pearl. "Right?"

Pearl nodded, "It's terrible."

"Even someone like me could tell it's too fake. The posture of taking the scalpel is wrong. Come again. Dr. Yonng, please teach her. If she still can't do it, you'll need to sub in."   

Once she heard the Pearl would replace her, Evelina was unhappy.

The staff was busy preparing the props. Pearl bypassed the camera and walked towards the operating table. As soon as she took two steps, she heard greetings from behind her.   

"Mr. Zellweger."

"Hello, Mr. Zellweger."

She tightened her mind, glanced at the entrance of the operating room and saw Richard's figure. Upon walking in, Richard's tall figure was outstanding and hard to miss.   

"Is Mr. Zellweger here?" Evelina's eyes lit up, and she started to take off her gloves.

Pearl came back to her senses and stopped her immediately.

Evelina's face sank. "What are you doing?" 

"The director asked me to teach you the way to do the surgery."

"Later."

Pearl clasped her wrist firmly. "We're rushing to finish it. The sooner we're done, the earlier I can leave. You don't want to be laughed at by Mr. Zellweger, do you?"   

Probably, only Richard could stop Evelina.  As soon as she heard his name, she calmed down and stared at Pearl, "Laughing at me?"   

"Then practice hard."

After that, Pearl put the scalpel back into Evelina's hand.  

She knew Evelina's intention for Richard, so she had to stop it and avoid her doing something stupid to tarnish the Yonng family's reputation or her own future.  

At the same time, Richard was standing behind the camera listening to the director talking to a group of people around him. However, his eyes was fixed intently on the figure in the shot. She was dressed in a white shirt with casual shorts, who looked the same as she did back in college.  

A woman's intuition was very accurate. Pearl could feel that someone was staring at her like a hawk. She did not dare to look back at all.
