They went to a restaurant near the university. It was lunchtime and there were a lot of people. They finally managed to find a table by the window.

After ordering their meals, Jasmine said to waiter, "Sorry to trouble you. Thank you."

"Please wait for a moment."

"I never expected Dr. Morgan to introduce me to you, Dr. Yonng." Jasmine smiled. 

"I didn't either." Pearl's heart was filled with a mixture of emotions.

The meaning of 'unexpected' was completely different for both of them.

Pearl had never expected Jasmine to be Richard's stepmother.

She wanted to get close to the Zellweger family as to investigate the incident that year, which was why she accepted Ethan's suggestion. 

Ethan said that this matter shouldn't be rushed and it was best not to have direct relation with him. Therefore, even Pearl did not know what Ethan was doing.

Hence, when the dean called her at noon, she really didn't know it was Jasmine. 

"I'm relieved that it was you. I approached Dr. Morgan to find a trustworthy person." Jasmine smiled in a friendly manner. "Elaine told me that she mentioned this to you that day, but maybe you did not pay attention to it since she's only a child."

Jasmine's words made Pearl immediately feel it easy to get along with her.

Pearl could not help but compare Jasmine to Richard's mother. Jasmine was rumoured to be the mistress and had a bad reputation. After all these years, the Zellweger family still did not accept her. 

No one would feel comfortable looking at how arrogant Mrs. Zellweger was. In comparison, Jasmine was the obvious choice for any man. 

"At that time, I haven't considered becoming a private doctor. The main reason is that my schedule is packed with hospital matters and school."

She said with courtesy.

"It's okay. A visit once a week is enough. Also, you will need to accompany us if Liam ever wants to go out. Oh, by the way, Liam is my son." Jasmine said. 

Pearl nodded.

Liam had congenital heart disease. All his life, he could only be raised at home like a porcelain doll. 

Jasmine had probably gotten used to it since it had been so many years.

"For the next two days, if you are free, I'll bring you to meet Liam. He is a little afraid of strangers but you don't have to worry."

"Elaine is close to her brother." Pearl smiled as well. 

"Yes. Elaine is very patient with her brother, even though she is ill-tempered."

"She's a good girl."

At that day in the hospital, Elaine was angry at Ethan because her friend was injured. She was anxious but then picked up Pearl's white coat and returned it to her. This proved that she'd been taught well.

As they were chatting, Pearl realised she could hit it off with Jasmine.

Jasmine was a painter who ran her own gallery and taught children to paint. She also loved traveling and photography.

The only hobby that Pearl maintained was photography.

When she was a child, she was a fast learner. She was often praised by her teachers for being talented. However, she had no perseverance. 

"Let's go out together and take some beautiful photos, if you're free."

"That would be great."

Time passed by quickly. 

"It's already 2 pm?" Pearl looked at her watch.

"Are you going back to the hospital later?" Jasmine asked. 

"Yes."

"I'll give you a ride then." Jasmine smiled. 

"It's okay. I drove my car here." Pearl went out with Jasmine.

If it wasn't for the work in the afternoon, Pearl really wanted to stay with Jasmine a little longer and talk about photography.

She had left Kityall City for far too long. Her old friends all had their own families and new friends. 

On her way back to the hospital, Ethan called her. 

"Did you arrange this?" Pearl said. 

"Oh, great minds think alike. How did it go?"

"I signed a contract for six months."

"And the salary?"

"I think you should be more concerned about other things than the salary," 

"What's it?"

"Do you know who Jasmine Brown is?"

"Isn't she Patrick's current wife? The stepmother of your ex-boyfriend, Richard, right?"

"Do you remember Elaine?" Pearl smiled. 

"Elaine? The insane girl in the hospital that day?"

"Jasmine is Elaine's mother."

As soon as she finished her words, Ethan immediately fell silent. 

"Are you surprised? Didn't you do your due diligence? You secretly asked the dean to introduce me to Jasmine but didn't bother to check on her family?"

"Yeah but who knew what she looked like?" Ethan's tone was slightly depressed. 

"Is this some kind of a joke?" Ethan said. 

"It's just a coincidence. By the way, I have to get off work early today in the evening. The tenant in my old apartment said that the bathroom is leaking. I'll go see what's going on. "

After she and the twins moved in with Ethan, she sublet the small apartment that she used to live in to a young girl who just graduated a few days ago.

It has only been a few days since she rented the apartment.
