Clint shook his head and gently wiped Rainie's tears away, caressing her cheek softly.
"What happened... Who did this to you?"
Rainie did not say anything. Instead, she began to cry even harder. Clint took out some tissues and gently wiped her tears, trying to comfort her.
"Alright, don't cry. If you don't want to talk about it, I won't ask. It's okay. Just focus on getting better. Don't worry about the expenses, I'll cover everything."
Rainie looked at Clint with glistening eyes and nodded. Clint thought it was best not to disturb her any further and got up to leave. However, as he was about to go, Rainie grabbed his hand.
Clint turned back with concern. "Don't do that. You shouldn't lift your arm so high."
He sat back down. "What's wrong? If you have something to say, just tell me."
Rainie was a mess of tears, sobbing so hard that her words were indiscernible. Clint propped the pillow behind her and helped her sit up so that her tears would not run into her ears. He patiently wiped her tears.
The two of them stayed like this for half an hour. Rainie cried so hysterically that she eventually fell asleep. Seeing her in such a miserable state, Clint knew something serious must have happened.
Even though he had saved her, her reaction was too extreme. What on earth had happened? Fearing that something might happen, Clint stayed by Rainie's side.
…
Another day passed. When Clint opened his eyes the next day, he found that Rainie, who had been covered in bandages, was gone.
"W-Where is she? Gabe! Gabe!"
Gabriel rushed in.
"What's the matter, sir?"
"Where is she? Where did she go?"
