The mockery was evident in that elderly woman’s smile.

Lara usually had a sharp tongue but she felt embarrassed by the villager’s disdainful remarks. She hung her head as she walked beside Willow.

It was a fact that Samantha was doing better than Willow. She had both money and influence. Not only did she give her family a big house, but she would also always show up in a luxury car and branded clothing.

Their family, on the other hand, was dressed in cheap clothing and had to walk back home.

It felt so embarrassing.

Her daughter couldn’t compare to Samantha at all.

Willow was already in a bad mood when Samantha’s car almost hit her earlier.

Her expression immediately darkened after hearing the villager’s comment. She didn’t plan to respond at first because she didn’t like comparing people. Everyone had different needs, standards, and views on whether or not their life was alright. There was no need for comparisons.

She passed through the village square with her luggage on her back.

Samantha said condescendingly, “Wills, look at all that luggage. Your back and shoulders must hurt. We both live in the capital, so you could’ve called me and I could’ve given you guys a ride back. It’s alright if you don’t have a car. You have me, your dear cousin.”

The elderly woman who had been complimenting Samantha chimed in, “Exactly, Willow. You should learn from your cousin. Look at her, not only does she have a rich boyfriend, but her business is also booming, making her the richest person in our village. She’s even kind enough to be nice to a poor relative like you and offer you a ride. You shouldn’t be so stubborn. You should rely on others when you have nothing. It isn’t shameful at all for you to hitch a ride in your cousin’s car.”

Willow stopped in her tracks. She held her head high and said, “Why would you think that I have nothing? Aren’t these four children mine? Moreover…”

She cast Samantha a meaningful look before chuckling. “You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. How can you be sure that she’s kind?”

After all, it was Samantha who schemed against Willow and slept with her boyfriend.
