"I want to talk to Mr. Martin. Could you please give us some space to talk alone?" Elsie requested Skylar.
Skylar raised an eyebrow.
Suddenly, Joe threw a crumpled talisman paper at Elsie. "Who gave you this talisman?"
Elsie stared at the familiar talisman on the ground, her eyes widening.
"You… How could you crumple the talisman like this? This is a talisman that can help you recover your memories from your previous life! I'm doing this for your own good. I don't want you to continue being deceived by Skylar."
No wonder she had waited all day yesterday and today and still hadn't seen him. It was because the talisman had been destroyed!
She glared angrily at Skylar. "It was you, wasn't it? You discovered the talisman and selfishly destroyed it to prevent Joe from realizing the truth! Skylar, do you know that you've ruined my life?"
"You've fallen too deep into the role. Have you ever considered that the extra memories you have are fragmented, like bits of text appearing in your mind?
"A negative item has influenced you. In other words, the person who gave you the talisman used you through the object," Skylar said, suddenly feeling pity for Elsie.
However, everyone deserving of pity had flaws that were hard to overlook.
After being targeted and used, Elsie was now stuck in the mire with no way out.
Elsie's gaze flickered as she recalled that woman blocking her and the words she said before cutting her off. It made her heart tremble uncontrollably.
A negative item… Was it really a negative item?
Were her and Joe's past experiences just illusions given to her by the object? But the emotions felt so real.
And yet, those memories seemed to be nothing more than fragments. She could only recall a few pieces repeatedly.
There was nothing beyond that—no vivid scenes of everyday life, like eating together at home or even bathing together.
Her chest felt like it was weighed down by a massive stone, making it hard to breathe.
"I… I… Haven't you remembered even the tiniest bit?" Elsie asked unwillingly. She couldn't accept that everything was just a dream.
