His Reluctant Luna novel Chapter 99

Alice

Though, Lucian had dismissed my plan and refused any further discussion about it. I couldn't shake the idea from my mind. The reason I had been hiding my thoughts from him. He would lose it if he came to know that I was still dwelling over it.

I was walking through the white hospital corridor, making my daily visit to the injured human women. Initially, all of them feared the guards, so I dismissed them and visited with Olivia. She had been a big help in communicating with those women. As a former survivor of the same ordeal, they connected with her. After days of patiently explaining the situation, they had finally become more accepting.

Most of them had submitted to the fact that their old life was now lost forever. They were neither human nor werewolf. They would be easily noticed among humans, maybe even get picked up by the rogues again. Being with the pack was the safest thing for them. They still needed some convincing, though.

We walked in silence to the infirmary. It was a busy place today. I was surprised when the human females approached me happily.

"Madam Alpha," Debbie, the oldest one of the group addressed me smiling. "We're so glad to see you today."

"I am glad, as well, to see you all finally smiling." I smiled back.

The pack didn't scare them anymore, and none of them was ready to die. They were just uneasy about what happened during a changing ritual. Doing that with just, someone, was nerve-wracking.

"Is it necessary to be turned? Can't we just remain humans?" One of the girls asked.

"You are not a human anymore Mila, those experiments have changed you, though not completely. I understand it's a big step for you all. If you go back to the human world and the wolf takes over your body, or you suddenly show yourself to humans. You could put everyone you love in danger. You have to stay here with us, so we can teach you how to control it," I pleaded in the hope to make them understand. "But you would be gaining a lot as well."

"What would we gain from it?"

"Foremost your life span would be elongated. You will live until 200 and still look 30. Your healing will be super fast, and you will become forceful. You would also be part of the pack and always be protected and provided for. "

"How strong will I become?" The youngest girl who had never spoken a word until now suddenly said.

She has not even told us her name.

I looked at her and snapped the iron rod of one of the beds in half. There were loud gasps in the room.

"I want to change. " The girl said flatly.

"What is your name, girl?" I asked.

"Jane," she replied softly.

"It's a big decision, and there is no rush. Except for Olivia, none of you has found a mate. So, I can request some of my unmated Betas to turn you. If you all agree. But I am not going to force you. Take your time."

"What is a mate? How do we even know if we have mates ?" Debbie asked.

" We wolves like humans have one true soul mate. The moment our wolf half see them, the bond begins to form. The only thing that could break that bond is death. Have you ever been in love ?" I asked the girls.

They flushed and shook their heads.

"Finding your mate is like falling in love," I said.

The girls were quiet for a moment.

"But who would love us ?" Mila said.

"We werewolves believe that whenever a human stumbles upon us. He or she has been guided by Luna, our Goddess. Olivia found her mate here. You will also find your mates. If not here, then maybe in some other packs. Once all this is behind us, I will organize a mating ball. So that you can find your mates." I assured them.

"I want to avoid waiting to be turned, I want to become strong. I will never let them hurt me again." Tears stung in Jane's eyes, and my heart swelled with pity for these hapless victims.

" You will never be hurt again, I promise," I walked ahead and hugged the girl.

"Oh! I forgot to mention why I came to see you all. The pack is going to celebrate tomorrow. It's the new moon festival. It is an important celebration and I want you all to attend. If you are comfortable."

There was a silence in the room, while the girls looked at each other.

"Don't be afraid, it will be safe. No one will hurt you." Olivia said.

"What will happen during the celebration?"
