Her Heart Her Terms (Lily and Xavier) novel Chapter 326

Xavier spoke with conviction, appearing patient as he confronted her, but in reality, he was using his dominance to force a standoff.

He tried to deflect any uncertainty about his relationship with Sarah by casting doubt on her connection with Terence.

Lily could see the mockery and satisfaction in his eyes, knowing full well that he was doing this on purpose. He was betting that she wouldn't want to drag Terence down, hoping that she would relent.

"Xavier, you've gone too far. Regardless of what's true or false, do you really think we can ever go back to the way we were? Even if we're pretending, do you think we can still live under the same roof and sleep in the same bed as if nothing happened?"

Her lashes trembled with emotion, her bright eyes blazing with fury.

Xavier looked at her with disdain. "Do you think I'd let you go back to being the pampered Mrs. Fulton? Don't expect anything from me beyond a piece of A4 paper."

She would remain in her small apartment while he would stay in his grand villa. Aside from the legal title, he would offer her nothing, expecting her to be his lifelong shield.

Anger and humiliation surged within her, and Lily's face turned pale. His cruelty was unbearable. Two years of love wasted on a heartless man, and now she was being treated with such ruthless disregard.

"What if I refuse?" She couldn't accept this.

"You can try to face the consequences," Xavier replied, his tone confident. "I'll protect her, but how many people do you have to protect?"

Xavier represented power and status. Even if his affair with Sarah became public and he was condemned, he had enough backing for Sarah to become Mrs. Fulton eventually. Who would dare look down on her after that?

Lily was in a vulnerable position. Even if she cleared her name with Terence, what about... Hayden?

Xavier's words, "How many people do you have to protect?", were a sharp reminder of the control he had over her. He would hold leverage over her as long as she had loved ones to protect.
